The Screen Size Calculator calculates the exact width and height of any screen from its diagonal size and aspect ratio. Useful when buying phones, TVs or monitors.
| Ratio | Used In | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 16:9 | Most TVs, laptops, monitors | 1920×1080 |
| 20:9 | Modern smartphones | Samsung S series |
| 4:3 | iPad, old monitors | 1024×768 |
| 21:9 | Ultrawide monitors | 2560×1080 |
| TV Size | Ideal Distance |
|---|---|
| 32 inch | 1.2 - 1.5 metres |
| 43 inch | 1.6 - 2.0 metres |
| 55 inch | 2.0 - 2.5 metres |
| 65 inch | 2.5 - 3.0 metres |
Screen size is the diagonal distance from one corner of the display to the opposite corner, usually given in inches, not the width or height alone.
Using the screen's aspect ratio and diagonal measurement, the calculator works out the actual width and height of the display for you.
Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between a screen's width and height, such as 16:9 for most TVs and monitors, which affects how content fits the display.
